Sydney Nixon

Sydney is a second-year at the University of Pennsylvania’s Annenberg School for Communication where she is concentrating in Data & Network Science. In addition, Sydney is an undergraduate fellow at FactCheck.org, and an assistant moderator for the Red & Blue Exchange’s “Can We Talk” civil dialogue series. Through the SNF Paideia Program designated courses, and the fellows seminar, she has developed a deeper understanding of the importance of civil dialogue in society today. These experiences not only increased her awareness of the importance of having open, meaningful conversations across difference, she also gained a perspective on how easy it is to over-simplify issues by shutting out opposing perspectives.
