Luke McDermott

External Vice President, Association of Students of the University of Nebraska; Chairman, Husker Vote Coalition

Luke McDermott is a political science, economics, and history triple major at the University of Nebraska. McDermott also has an extensive service record on campus, including roles as External Vice President of the Association of Students of the University of Nebraska and Chair of the Husker Vote Coalition. He has also gained experience as a Nebraska Unicameral legislative page, a Victory Institute Congressional intern with Congressman Adam Schiff, and an Organizing Intern with AFSCME Local 61. He has been awarded the Phi Beta Kappa Key into Public Service Scholarship, the Reagan Civic Leaders Fellowship and the Obama-Chesky Voyager Scholarship.

Universities have become much more corporatized over the years, and they see disruption as an interruption of the product that students are buying, instead of a supplement to the experience that they are living in.
