Kostas Koukoumakas

Kostas Koukoumakas is a professional journalist based in Athens, Greece. He studied Journalism and Mass Media at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. He worked as a reporter for the major Greek daily newspaper TA NEA from 2008 until 2013. He has been working for VICE since 2014 covering Criminal Justice and Politics in Greece and the Balkans. He has had publications in BBC News, the Guardian, DIE ZEIT, Balkan Insight and the Goethe-Institute Magazine. In 2017, he was nominated for the European Press Prize and The Investigative Reporting Award (teamwork). He won the 2019 EU Migration Media Award.
