Dr. Irene Mulvey is a mathematician, faculty activist and Immediate Past President of the American Association of University Professors (AAUP). She has been active in the AAUP for decades, serving multiple terms on the AAUP’s Governing Council, the Council’s Executive Committee, Committee A on Academic Freedom & Tenure, Committee on College and University Governance, and more. In June 2020, she was elected to a four-year term as President of the AAUP on a platform that included a commitment to racial justice and a promise to take steps to address systemic and institutional racism in the AAUP and in the academy.
