Effy Vayena

Dr. Vayena is Professor of Bioethics at the Swiss Institute of Technology (ETH) in Zurich. In her work, she investigates how advances in science and technology can be ethically applied to achieve the best outcomes in public and personal health.

She is an elected member of the Swiss Academy of Medical Sciences and Chair of the advisory group on ethical, legal and social implications for the Swiss Personalised Healthcare Network. She is also a member of the World Economic Forum's advisory committee for the Global Risks Report and co-chaired the WHO expert group on ethics and governance of AI. In 2021, she was named Chair of the Greek National Committee on Bioethics and Technology Ethics. Dr. Vayena is known for her expertise and frequently advises governments and public policy organisations on digitisation and ethics.
