Marios Konstantinos Lazanas

Director of the Internal Medicine-Infectious Diseases of IASO General Clinic, President of the Hellenic Society for the Study and Control of AIDS

He was born in Nikaia, Piraeus and graduated from the Medical School of the University of Athens.

He is an Internist and obtained his specialization in Infectious Diseases after two years of training in major hospitals in Paris.

He has worked at Evangelismos Hospital and as Coordinating Director at Tzaneio and Red Cross Hospitals for 21 years.

He holds a PhD from the University of Athens and is an Assistant Professor at the University of Paris VII.

He has served for six years as President of the Hellenic Society of Infectious Diseases and has been President of the Hellenic Society for the Study and Control of AIDS for twelve years. He was the national representative of Greece at UNAIDS for three years and is a member of the Committee of Health Experts for COVID-19.

 

In those days, we couldn’t even write medical certificates for patients to visit a doctor or a public health committee. They were all stigmatized in society.
